Dr. Charlene Archibeque, Guest Conductor

One of America's foremost choral conductors and teachers, Dr. Charlene Archibeque was Director of Choral Activities at San Jose State University from 1970 to 2005. Her SJSU choirs completed sixteen concert tours to Australia, Mexico and throughout Europe, and she has conducted in many of the major music halls including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Dr. Archibeque has conducted hundreds of honor choirs in the US and Canada and presented choir clinics and conductors' workshops nationally and abroad. Known for her knowledge of the choral repertoire and performance practice of all styles, Dr. Archibeque has conducted and prepared over 150 major choral works with orchestras and performs music from all historical periods. Active in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), she has presented her choirs at 25 state, divisional, and national conventions, and was the recipient of the California ACDA Howard Swan Award in 2008. Dr. Archibeque received her Bachelors at the Univ. of Michigan and DMA at the University of Colorado. She is Editor of the
Charlene Archibeque Choral Series with Santa Barbara Music Publishers. Dr. Archibeque remains active in the choral field as a clinician, adjudicator, guest conductor, and teacher.
